Ann Andrews, CPA
I’m Ann Andrews, a partner in the CPA firm of Bargsley, Andrews & Steinbach, CPAs, LLP. We have a custom made sign in our office that says “Our clients’ peace of mind is at the heart of our business.” My partners, employees and I try to bring that result to our clients. Our group has worked together in northwest Austin for a long time. I’ve worked with Debbie Steinbach since 1983 and with Lisa Bargsley since 1992.
Our federal and state tax environment is complex, and we collaborate with our clients’ estate planning and business attorneys and their investment advisors. When a client needs advisors, we have great people to recommend.
Our CPAs and staff enjoy working with businesses of any type. If we are able to visit with a new business owner before he or she chooses the entity (proprietorship, partnership, LLC or corporation), we are very happy to have the opportunity to share our comments before that important decision is made.
We like to help those new owners set up appropriate procedures and learn to outsource the tasks that can support their efforts towards profitability, so that they don’t get bogged down in admin tasks. We connect them with professional bookkeepers, payroll services, insurance, real estate, and marketing advisors.
Then we work with them through the life of the business, and all the way through sale and retirement. Our CPAs are available to discuss any issues, and our wide variety of clients provides us with interesting topics! Over the years, our clients kept coming up with unique and challenging problems. Collaboration within the office is our way of finding good suggestions for the clients. We started with private offices, then removed doors and sliced off sections of walls, all to promote the collaborative aspect of problem-solving. Our office is a big open space with lots of windows and very few walls.
We like to look at choices from several points of view including the family, the economy, and the tax effect. Clients may call us initially to prepare an income tax return, but our engagements can extend to more than just that task. A tax return is often the starting point for investigating ways that families can use the tax laws to their advantage, spread income among family members, and think about sharing wealth with the next generation.
The accountants in our office have attended family systems study groups, and we really do enjoy working with both older and younger generations. After all these years, we have quite a few multi-generation client groups. And we work with estate and trust issues, during both the planning stage and when those circumstances actually happen. It’s in the estate and family issues that clients often begin with a very anxious attitude and move to the “peace of mind” state, and we value those great relationships and results.
To sum up what we do: We work with business owners who are actively involved with their day-to-day activity, and we work with individuals who need the same CPA year after year.
